Summary: The Algonquin has been my favorite hotel in the city for almost 50 years. It has changed to keep up with the times. I miss man of the old charming features, the lobby recalling the days of glory with the Round Table, the waiters in tuxes, the laid back decor. The new Algonquin is still very special. it is very pleasant. The house kitty Matilda is sadly gone, but Hamlet has replaced her. He is a little shy, but makes the rounds of his place. The rooms are a little small but very comfortable. Wonderful place to stay in the city.

Summary: This is a great old hotel. The amenities are up to date though, and the rooms are very comfortable. Unfortunately, our heat wasn’t working. We reported that in the morning as we were checking out and they immediately gave us rewards points as a consolation, and said they would address it right away. We had drinks in the bar area and, while expensive (it is NYC, after all), they were great and service was wonderful. This hotel is also perfectly located for enjoying Broadway and the theaters. Definitely recommend.
